Hakan Ferhatoglu: A Turkish entrepreneur

Hakan Ferhatoglu is the founder of Nutra Slim Turkey and the co-founder of Meksa Securities/holdings During the turbulent,volatile high inflation/high interest years of the 90’s in Turkish economy Hakan Ferhatoglu also invested in food and entertainment industries but returned back to pioneering products and services in capital markets with Ata Invest in Dubai in 2006.
Born in Turkey, Hakan Ferhatoglu graduated from Robert College in Istanbul in 1980. In 1984, Hakan Ferhatoglu earned a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science at Boston University. In 1987, he went on to complete a Master’s of Business Administration, also from Boston University.
After living and working in New York for a few years, Hakan Ferhatoglu returned to Turkey to work for his family holdings, which founded and partially owned Chrysler Corp. Turkey, among other investments.

In 1990, Hakan Ferhatoglu founded Nutra Slim and co-founded Meksa Securities, thereby stabilizing his presence as an active and achievement-oriented business leader in his native country.

Since 2000, Hakan Ferhatoglu has been an active board member of Yuksel Holdings, whose core business is international general contracting, land development, and energy. There he has taken an active part in the initialization and coordination of large scale U.S. Government contracting work predominantly in Iraq and Afghanistan until 2006.

Hakan Ferhatoglu is also a member of the Executive Committee of the UAE-Turkey Board and Chairman of the Finance Comittee for DEİK (The Foreign Relations Board of Turkish Chamber of Commerce). Hakan Ferhatoglu is also a member of TABA and GİAD.

In a recent speech to DEİK, Hakan Ferhatoglu said, “Turkey is the world’s 15th largest economy and represents more than 1 percent of the global trade...Turkey has enjoyed 28 quarters of uninterrupted growth, especially from 2002 to 2007, [when] growth averaged 7.2 percent’ Hakan Ferhatoglu also said that he would also like to draw the attention to the upside potential of the Turkish very liquid and undervalued ISE, which he thinks will strongly bounce back once de-coupling takes place and Turkey proves to be a relatively safer and profitable market.

Hakan Ferhatoglu is married, has a 7-year-old son, and speaks English, Turkish, and French.
